Technical Description
The artwork is composed of 16 azulejos (15 × 15 cm), intentionally chosen for their manufacturing defects, which become an essential part of the overall aesthetic. The tiles are mounted on a wooden base, providing structural stability and visual cohesion.
At the center of the composition lies a broken ceramic plate (25 × 25 cm), reassembled and integrated as the focal element. The visible fracture is preserved, transforming a flaw into a defining artistic feature.
This piece transforms imperfect materials into a vibrant and symbolic visual narrative. Each azulejo, with its own irregularities, contributes to a mosaic rich in color, pattern, and layered imagery. Their imperfections are not concealed; instead, they are highlighted as a metaphor for beauty emerging from error and deviation.
The central plate, featuring a striking and dreamlike image, anchors the composition and interacts with the surrounding motifs. Its breakage does not disrupt the narrative; it enhances it. The fracture becomes an aesthetic gesture, suggesting transformation, renewal, and the act of reassembling meaning.
